Tax and reporting for families with ties across borders
Coordinated annual tax returns, foreign reporting, and planning for cross-border families, with a clear process for reviewing prior-year concerns.
Who it’s for
Bay Area households with bank accounts, investments, property, or family outside the U.S., including families receiving gifts or inheritances from abroad, and families in their first years as U.S. tax residents.
What’s included
- An annual return coordinated with applicable foreign reporting: FBAR, Form 8938, Form 3520, Form 8621, and Form 5471 where applicable.
- Year-end planning.
- Review of foreign investments.
- Planning around immigration transitions.
The forms and services needed depend on your circumstances and agreed scope. Some reports are filed separately from the income tax return.
How we work
- Tell us about your situation. Start with a free 30-minute introductory consultation about your needs and timing.
- Agree on the scope. We explain the proposed work, information needed, and fees before the engagement begins.
- Move forward with a clear plan. We organize the agreed work, responsibilities, and next steps for ongoing support.
Detailed tax analysis, document review, and prior-year work are scoped separately where needed.
If earlier years were missed
We start with a confidential review. Before accepting a catch-up engagement, we ask whether any year is under IRS examination and how the omission happened. In some situations we'll recommend speaking with a tax attorney first. We'll explain the routes that may be available, but no penalty outcome can be guaranteed.
Prior-year work is scoped separately from ongoing annual services. Our aim is a clear process to bring your filings current and organize the next filing cycle.
